Bubble Hoops (indoor game)

Players: 2 or more
Materials: Soap bubbles, 7 feet (2.3 m) of wire, 14 sewing spools, Post-it notes, marker, long table

This game requires a little preparation. Cut the wire into seven 1-foot (30 cm) sections, and bend each section into a hoop. Stick the ends of each hoop into the spools, and place the hoops on a table top, following the diagram. Hoops should be about 2 feet (60 cm) from each other, a little farther if your table is large enough. To show the playing order of the hoops, mark the numbers 1-9 on Post-it notes, and fold each note around the top of each hoop. Notice how the starting hoop (1) is also the finishing hoop (9).

The first player blows a soap bubble and fans it through the first hoop. If the bubble makes it through without breaking, he blows another bubble and fans it through the second hoop. Or, if he’s lucky enough to get his bubble through both hoops without it breaking, he just keeps going. Play continues until the player’s bubble breaks. Then it’s the second player’s turn.

The first player to get through the sequence of numbered hoops wins the game.
