Storm Watch (indoor game)

            Players: 5 or more

            Materials: None

Depending on the size of the room, any number of players can enjoy this game.  Name the four sides of the room after the four points of the compass, North, South, East, and West.  Players—the Weathervanes—choose a side and stand there.  One player is the Wind and stands in the center of the room.

The game begins when the Wind points to one side of the room, calls out a direction, and all of the Weathervanes immediately face the opposite direction.  For example, if the Wind calls “North!” the Weathervanes must face South.  If she shouts “East!” the Weathervanes all turn West.  If she shouts “Variable!” the Weathervanes stand on their toes and sway back and forth.  And finally, if the Wind shouts “Storm!” all Weathervanes must spin around three times and stop.

Of course, these directions come fast and furiously, and any player who slips up and disobeys a command from the Wind goes out of the game.  The last remaining player wins.
