This game has also been called Thread the Needle, and after trying it, you’ll see why. One player is the Mouse. The other players form a circle, linking hands and holding them up high enough for Cat and Mouse to pass under.
Mouse walks around the outside of the circle. Then suddenly it tags one of the others and rushes away. Then suddenly it tags one of the others and rushes away. The player tagged becomes the Cat and must chase Mouse as it weaves in and out of the circle, under the arms of the other players. Cat must follow Mouse’s moves exactly and cannot take shortcuts across the circle.
If Mouse is caught, it joins the others in the circle and Cat becomes the new Mouse.
