Box Baseball (Outdoor game)

Players: 2
Materials: Rubber ball, chalk (optional)
Surface: Paved

Box Baseball is played across three sidewalk squares—one for each “team” (player) and a third for the strike area. It should looke like this:
_______________________________________________
California Angels  /  Strike Area New  /  York Yankees

Player #1 is the California Angels, and Player #2 is the New York Yankees. Or make one the Vancouver Bears and the other the Aussie Joeys, or whatever you choose. Player #1 throws the ball into Player #2’s box, passing it over the strike area. Player #2, standing outside his box, tries to catch the ball after one bounce. If he succeeds, it o*****s as an out for the Angels.
But if he doesn’t catch the ball after one bounce, each additional bounce means one more base for the Angels. Here’s what additional bounces mean:

2 bounces—a single
3 bounces—a double
4 bounces—a triple
5 bounces—a home run

If Player #1’s throw bounces into the strike area, or it misses Player #2’s box, that’s strike one, and he must throw again. As in ordinary baseball, three strikes make an out, and it’s Player #2’s turn to throw.
After nine innings, the team with the higher score wins.
